From Echo Lake Camp, take the Pacific Crest Trail to the Lake of the Woods cut-off.
Continue over the hill to Lake of the Woods.
Follow the trail around the southern edge of Lake of the Woods.
The trail eventually becomes hard to follow as you make your way down the granite slopes of Desolation Valley to Ropi Lake.
