Echo Lake Camp in operated by the City of Berkeley.
It is in operation during the months of July, August,
and occasionally September.
While Berkeley is situated across the bay from San
Francisco, California, Echo Lake Camp is on the
Eastern edge of California.
Echo Lake Camp is in the Sierra mountain range near
the Southern end of Lake Tahoe. The camp is at an
elevation of 7200 feet.
The camp lies just off US Highway 50 approximately 100 miles
East of Sacramento. (See the section of this document
for the exact location and driving instructions)
Sometimes our campers and staff members choose Amtrack
when travelling to and from Echo Lake Camp.
The train runs between Oakland and Sacramento and a Shuttle
bus makes the run between Sacramento and the 'Y' in South
Lake Tahoe.
