Steller’s Jays form monogamous bonds and remain together all year.
Both members of the pair build their cup-shaped nest in a conifer out of weeds, moss, twigs, leaves and mud. They often line it with pine needles.
The female typically incubates 4-5 eggs for 16-18 days.
Both members of the pair feed the young, which leave the nest at about 16 days and start finding their own food by 30 days.
