The leaves are numerous and parallel-veined. The basal leaves are ovate to broadly elliptical or oblong- lanceolate in shape.
The corn lily requires a deep, fertile, moisture retentive, humus-rich soil. It prefers a position in semi-shade on a north facing border.
This lovely grouping of young lilies, just south of the dining hall, was photographed in early July.
