Shaggy Hawkweed

Hieracium horridum is also called:

  • Prickly Hawkweed
  • Shaggy Mouse-ear Hawkweed

Members of the Hieracium genus are commonly called Hawkweeds. Folklore tells us that hawks chew these plants to improve their eyesight.

Horridum means: sticking out, rough, shaggy, bristly, prickly.

Hieracium horridum is a member of the Asteraceae or Sunflower family.
