Quaking Aspen
Populus tremuloides is abundant in moist, high elevation habitats.
Aspen bark is whitish, smooth, and thin. Older trunks may display thick, deeply
furrowed bark near the base.
It is common to find aspen on the margins of
meadows and in riparian habitats, particularly
among red fir and lodgepole pine forests.
