before 1922
Many interesting things happened near Echo Lake Camp before its founding.
Snowshoe Thompson skied over Echo Summit delivering the mail. The Pony Express rode up Meyers Grade delivering the mail. Asa Hawley built the first toll road up the hill from Christmas Valley. Wagon Trains rolled up and down Osgood's Grade. Neamiah Osgood collected tolls for road maintenance. The Celio Family operated a lumber mill and ran the Yank's Station complex.
