Osgood's Toll House

Neamiah Osgood arrived here from New Hampshire in 1859.

He settled at the foot of Meyers Grade and operated a toll house on the road between Carson and Placerville.

Now known as US Highway 50, the road was filled, day and night in both directions with Concord coaches, freight schooners, bullion wagons, the rush eastward to the Comstock lode, and the pony express.
