The Main Intake Port

  • Swimmers should be careful around main intake port on the side of the pool near the west side ladder because there is a powerful suction.

Young swimmers with long hair should be especially careful near this intake point.

  • Every day we attach a 'vacuum cleaner' to this intake point and 'Hoover' the bottom of the pool.

Water containing twigs, bugs, leaves, and other debris is pumped up through the vacuum cleaner, through a small filter basket, through the pump and into the big sand filters.

  • After 'vacuuming' the pool the pump is turned off, the valves are shut, and the small debris basket is cleaned.

Then valves are opened and the pump restarted.
